Residents,
My own measurements of Usage were very crude, based upon a 30 minute spot
sampling on half a dozen occasions. We would like to stiffen up the
data, data which may demonstrate that as many or more people use the
course/park for non-golf activities as they do for golf activities.
At the very least, the golf course
management will be forced to deny this, or the BCC will be forced to do a
survey of their own, AND IF WE ARE LUCKY, BBC can see a list of park users
who are committed enough to go out and count.
I encourage you to give a copy of
this to neighbours who do not use E-mail. We
need as much help from park users as we can get. Depending upon how many
people participate, we may be able to get enough data in a couple or three
weeks for a real statistician to turn this into something useful!
That's why I think it would be
terrific if we could get ask ALL residents to do counts of
their own (see table below) and forward the data to me by this E-mail
address hackquay@bigpond.net.au OR
on fax to 3303-8625 OR drop it in my letterbox at 43 Hillside Tce
(1) If one is walking around the park/golf course:
Tell me:
- date,
- time start,
- time finish,
- number of different people, (including teens & accompanied children and yourself
if it is your normal walk),
- where you walked, or if you have an feel for it, the % of the course you
covered
- name of resident who filed the
count
(2) If some one is stationary,
Tell me:
- date,
- time start,
- time finish,
- number of different people (including teens & accompanied children)
- locations
where you observed, or if you have a feel for it, the % of the course that can
be viewed,
- name of resident who filed the count.
IMPORTANT:
1. Do not count people
walking or jogging along the road on
2. Important that the measurements
are accurate and carefully recorded.
3. However Stop watch accuracy is
not required, to the nearest 5 minutes is stretching it, but is acceptable.
4. If you have trouble keeping
more than one set of figures in your head (as I do) counting the number of
golfers is optional.
4. If you wish to do multiple observations in a day, that is great. But
only count yourself once !
Here is a table that you can send
back to me as regularly as you like. Just print
off this E-mail & you have it.
As you can see there are enough
rows for 10 observations. If some of you wish to do 10 a day, that is OK. 20 if someone is keen, or one long one ! I'm told Statistitions
will know how to deal with this data.
