Fence Offensive

Notice of public gathering/meeting/workshop/forum at St Lucia Golf Clubhouse on 23 October from 2-6pm

Implications for the whole of Brisbane???

There is a public gathering/meeting/workshop/forum at St Lucia Golf Clubhouse on 23 October from 2-6pm to try to work through the issues involved in Council's intention to fence the golf course against a strong NO FENCE view of local residents.

This has implications for the whole of Brisbane and elsewhere as it represents an example where public open and environmental space can it is said, be required to be fenced to reduce the liability of the Council ... at the same time privatising the "public" space ...a strategy made rather worse by the recent recommendations to sell/privatise the Council's golf courses ...!

So your local park or creek could as easily be fenced, privatised then sold ... simply because Council received a report indicating some degree of risk of liability to Council. Where does it stop ... at the creeks, at the river?

Please come ... and if you know someone interested and/or expert in this field, please bring them too.
