"...our local area has always been special to me.
It's important that I continue to work hard and represent the needs of Ryan residents, in order to ensure practical benefits are delivered for our local community.
Clearly, my job is not only to speak out in Canberra but to do what I can here at home."

WHAT DO JOHN HOWARD, RUSSELL CROWE
AND GREG NORMAN HAVE IN COMMON?
They were all amongst the thousands of Australian who have been in the Navy, Army or Air Force Cadets.
Michael Johnson, Federal Member for Ryan, is encouraging all young Australians from ages 12 and a half to 20, to get involved in the Cadets program.
"The Government have now established a Cadet Initiated Activities program within the Cadets program to enable Cadets to have a greater say in their activities. This is an exciting youth development program that offers a lot of opportunities for Ryan youth," Mr Johnson said.
"260,000 has been provided in the 2002-03 Budget and the Cadets will determine how these fund will be used within appropriate guidelines."
"It's great that the Government is taking this approach. It lets Cadets play a big part in developing and shaping the future of Cadet programs."
