Biography
After graduating from the University of Queensland at St Lucia, Michael Johnson then qualified as a Barrister and ran his own small business. He also worked as a University Lecturer before being elected the Member for Ryan at the November 10 Federal Election.
Michael has lived in the area for more than 20 years. He has been an active patron of community business groups and local charity groups such as Zoe's Place.

Michael represents over 75,000 local residents who live in the Federal seat of Ryan.
The electorate covers a huge area of over 238 square kilometres extending from Moggill east to St Lucia and north-west to Brisbane Forest Park.

LEADERSHIP- HAVE YOU GOT WHAT IT TAKES?
Do you consider yourself a current or future leader in your community?
Michael Johnson MP, Federal Member for Ryan, is personally sponsoring five
exceptional young Ryan Leaders to attend The National Young Leaders'
Brisbane Forum on Tuesday, 12th November 2002.
"It's a great opportunity for local leaders to get involved in a very
educational and inspiring Forum. The purpose of the Forum is to bring
together emerging young leaders with national and international leaders to
inspire and motivate our next generation of leaders."
Michael Johnson will be covering all registration costs for the five
outstanding Ryan secondary students who will be selected from interviews
later this month.
Speakers at The National Young Leaders Forums' around the country have
included Kieren Perkins, Richard Butler, Bryce Courtney and Andrew Gaze.

Local students are also encouraged to nomination for the Ryan Students
Advisory Committee. This Committee aims to gather 20 secondary students
representatives to speak directly with their Federal Member on current
issues of concern. Interested students can contact Michael Johnson's office
for a nomination form.
