New Australia Post mailbox for Riverhills

Michael Johnson, Federal Member for Ryan, joined with local Riverhills residents at the installation of the long awaited Australia Post mailbox at the Centenary Place Shopping Centre, after submitting a petition from local residents calling on increased postal facilities in the area.

"This is excellent news for local residents who have been asking for these facilities for some time now and I was pleased to strongly represent the community," Mr Johnson said.

Mr Johnson prepared and printed a petition calling on Australia Post to install a Post Box in the Centenary Place Shopping Centre in May 2002.

"It was important for Australia Post to realise that there has been rapid growth in the local area over recent years which has resulted in a greater demand for local services," Michael Johnson said.

"I would like to sincerely thank the many residents who took the time to get involved and sign the petition. I would also like to acknowledge Mr Walter Wood, from the Riverhills Newsagency who was the driving force behind the petition."

"As the posting box has been installed only on a trial basis, it is vitally important that local residents utilise this new mailbox. So please spread the good news!"

Michael and local residents gather around the newly installed mailbox at the Centenary Place Shopping Centre, Friday 31st January.
