AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL FLAG DAY
Federal Member for Ryan, Michael Johnson MP, today encouraged all local Ryan residents to celebrate Australian National Flag Day on September 3 and offered FREE desktop Australian Flags to all Ryan residents.
"September 3 will mark the 102nd anniversary of the day on which our flag was first flown as a symbol of our national unity," Mr Johnson said.
"The Australian National Flag shows our affiliation, loyalty and pride in our country. It has accompanied Australians to war and gone with them as peacekeepers.
"It is known around the world as the flag of a proud and independent nation, a compassionate friend and a worthy competitor on the sporting field."
"I encourage individuals, community organisations, local authorities and schools to take the opportunity to celebrate with pride the anniversary of the Australian National Flag."
"Whether that means taking the opportunity to reflect on our most precious emblem of nationhood or participating in flag raising ceremonies, I urge all Australians to observe this important occasion," Michael Johnson MP said.
In celebration of National Flag Day, Michael Johnson is offering FREE desktop Australian flags for all interested Ryan residents. To obtain you FREE desktop Australian Flag, please contact Michael's office on (07) 3720 2599.
