Recent Biography—

After graduating from the University of Queensland at St Lucia, Michael Johnson then qualified as a Barrister and ran his own small business. He also worked as a University Lecturer before being elected the Member for Ryan at the November 10 Federal Election.

Michael has lived in the area for more than 20 years. He has been an active patron of community business groups and local charity groups such as Zoe's Place.
Ryan Recognition Awards
Michael has established these awards for Residents who have made an outstanding contribution in our local community.

Michael represents over 75,000 local residents who live in the Federal seat of Ryan.
The electorate covers a huge area of over 238 square kilometres extending from Moggill east to St Lucia and north-west to Brisbane Forest Park.

Ryan's Sport Achievers Recognised

Outstanding local athletes, coaches and sporting teams were recognised in a special presentation ceremony with Commonwealth Sport Achievement Awards presented by Federal Member for Ryan, Michael Johnson, last week.

The ceremony, held at Nudgee Junior College, saw former Olympian, Mark Stockwell, attend and address some of the awards to 36 local recipients of the award.

"The office received so many nominations for local residents who have given so much to the Ryan community through their contributions to sport. It was a very tough decision to narrow it down to 36 recipients," Mr Johnson said.

Mark Stockwell, now the Director of Stockwell Building and Development, gave an inspirational speech wearing the Olympic Silver and Bronze Medals he received at the 1984 Olympics.
