Ryan Companies and Community Benefit from Export Grants

26 local businesses in the electorate of Ryan received over $938, 716 in Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) from the Federal Government in 2002-2003, Federal Member for Ryan, Michael Johnson, said today.

“These grants are a pat on the back for small and medium businesses in our local community for putting in the hard yards to build an export market for their products and services,” Mr Johnson said.

“The EMDG scheme is providing important financial support to help local businesses continue and expand their success overseas.”

Michael Johnson said that, just as importantly, the grants also offered a boost for the Ryan community.

“Exporters provides vital jobs for people here in Ryan and around the country. In fact, one in five Australian jobs depends on exports, one in four in regional areas.”

“I would like to encourage all local companies that aren’t already selling overseas to consider getting into exporting and to take advantage of the EMDG scheme and other Austrade services,” Mr Johnson said.

For more information on the scheme and how Austrade can help you get ready to export, contact Austrade on 13 28 78 or visit Austrade Website
