Biography
After graduating from the University of Queensland at St Lucia, Michael Johnson then qualified as a Barrister and ran his own small business. He also worked as a University Lecturer before being elected the Member for Ryan at the November 10 Federal Election.
Michael has lived in the area for more than 20 years. He has been an active patron of community business groups and local charity groups such as Zoe's Place.

Howard Government
delivers more child care for Ryan
Federal Member for Ryan, Michael Johnson, today announced the Howard Government will increase the number of Outside School Hours Care places in Ryan.
“Seven local child care providers will receive funding for 79 additional places from 1 January 2004 to help more local families balance their work and family commitments,” Mr Johnson said.
Mr Johnson welcomed the announcement by Federal Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Larry Anthony, that the Australian Government will provide an additional $79.5 million over four years for child care, including an extra 10,000 Outside Schools Hours Child Care places.
Those child care providers to receive funding for extra places include; Corinda State School Outside School Hours Care, Fig Tree Pocket State School Outside School Hours Care, Holy Family Indooroopilly Outside School Hours Care, Indooroopilly Outside School Hours Care, Jindalee State School Outside School Hours Care, Kenmore South State School Outside School Hours Care and YMCA Jamboree Heights Vacation Care Program.
“These additional places will help ease some of the most critical shortages in time for the coming school holidays and new school year.”
“The Australian Government will continue to invest in Australia’s most important asset, our families and children,” Mr Johnson said.
